Petitioners have filed this petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India making a prayer to direct respondents-Police Authorities to provide police protection to petitioners.

It is submitted by counsel appearing for petitioners that petitioner nos.1 and 2 have performed love marriage. After performance of love marriage, they are continue under threat from respondent nos. 5 to 9. It is submitted that petitioner nos.1 and 2 are under apprehension that there may be some bodily injury or harm to them. There is threatening of honour killing against them. In these circumstances, counsel appearing for the petitioners makes a prayer that respondents-authorities may be directed to consider and decide their representation for lodging of F.I.R and providing them police protection.

Government Advocate appearing for State opposed the petition. It is submitted that petitioners are having alternate remedy to prefer an application under Section 156 (3) or file private complaint for lodging of FIR. So far as threat to their life is concerned, police will take necessary action if required after considering the representation of petitioners for giving them protection from respondents, if there is any real threat to their life and property.

Considering the aforesaid circumstances, this writ petition is disposed off with limited direction that respondents-authorities may consider representation filed by petitioners regarding threat to their life and if some substance of material is found in said representation then adequate action may be taken by respondent no.3 & 4.

With the aforesaid directions, this writ petition stands disposed off.
