Vide the present petition, the petitioners seek quashing of FIR No. 256/2017 dated 02.06.2017 registered at Police Station - Sangam Vihar, New Delhi and consequent proceedings arising therefrom.
Notice issued.
Notice is accepted by learned APP for the State.
Respondent No. 2 is present in person.
With the consent of the counsel for the parties, the present petition is taken up for final disposal.
The complainant / respondent No. 2 gave a written complaint against the petitioners/parents in-law before CAW Cell on 13.09.2016. The matter could not be settled before CAW Cell and thereafter, FIR No. 256/2017 was registered against the petitioners at Police Station - Sangam Vihar on 02.06.2017.
The petitioners and respondent No.2 have entered into an amicable settlement vide compromise deed dated 09.08.2018 attested on 29.01.2020 filed as Annexure P-2 with the present petition. It is further submitted that petitioner No. 1 and respondent No. 2 are living in a rented accommodation happily since one year.
The complainant is present in person with her counsel and has been identified by SI Saurabh Kumar and submits that matter has been settled and she does not wish to prosecute the matter any further.
Taking into account the aforesaid facts, this Court is inclined to quash the FIR as no useful purpose would be served in prosecuting the petitioners any further.
For the reasons afore-recorded, the FIR No. 256/2017 dated 02.06.2017 registered at Police Station - Sangam Vihar, New Delhi and consequent proceedings therefrom are quashed.
The petition is allowed and disposed of accordingly. Dasti.
