Judgment

[1] Heard Mr. D. Julius Riamei, learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner.
[2] Issue notice.
[3] Mr. Th. Sukumar, learned GA accepts notice on behalf of respondent Nos. 1 & 2 and hence no formal steps is called for with respect to these respondents.
[4] Petitioner is directed to take steps to respondent No.3 by speed post.
[5] Mr. D. Julius Riamei, learned counsel for the petitioner prays for interim relief of staying the appointment of respondent No.3 as Assistant Professor on contract basis under the department of Higher Education, Government of Manipur vide order dated 08.02.2024.
[6] It is stated that with respect to the same recruitment vide order dated 13.07.2021 issued by the Director of University & Hr. Edn., Government of Manipur where candidature of 4(four) candidates having master degree in Public Administration were rejected as the same was not eligible for appointment as Assistant Professor in Political Science. However, respondent No.3 having qualification of M.A. in Public Administration from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi was appointed as Assistant Professor in Political Science vide order dated 08.02.2024
[7] The Petitioner who has been shortlisted in the same recruitment has challenged the appointment of respondent No.3 on the ground that his candidature ought to be rejected as done in the case of 4(four) other candidates.
[8] It is prayed that the impugned order dated 08.02.2024 appointing respondent No.3 as Assistant Professor in Political Science subject in the Department of Higher Education, Government of Manipur be stayed during the pendency of the present case.
[9] Mr. Th. Sukumar, learned GA submits that he may be given some time to take instruction in this regard.
[10] Till the next date, the respondent No.3 shall not discharge function of Assistant Professor in Political Science, if already appointed and joined to the post.
