Judgment
Rajiv Narain Raina, J.—The petitioner''s father was 56 years of age when he died serving the Education Department. The mother too was a Government servant. Learned counsel submits that the petitioner''s mother has retired from service in 2012. She is in receipt of pension and in all probability, family pension through her husband who was also a Government servant. Vide impugned order [P-4] dated 23.12.2014, the request for compassionate appointment has been rejected for the reason that it had earlier been rejected in the year 2010. The petitioner submits that earlier rejection was not communicated to him.
It matters little whether it was communicated or not because this Court finds no infirmity in the order dated 23.12.2014 denying compassionate appointment to the petitioner in the absence of proof of acute financial hardship the family has faced on the death of the father of the petitioner in 2010 and during the retirement of the mother.
Compassionate appointments are not a source of recruitment and are meant to save families of dying Government servants from being driven to the street and penury.
Merely because there are two sisters to be married is also no ground to offer compassionate appointment to the petitioner. No ground is made out for interference. The writ petition to stand dismissed.
