Petitioner seeks a declaration that the act of the respondent BSES Yamuna Power Ltd as well as Government of NCT of Delhi in shifting the

meters outside the premises is illegal and unjustified.

Learned counsel for petitioner submits that the electricity meter of the petitioner is sought to be shifted outside his premises and there is no

justification for the same.

Learned counsel appearing for the respondent on advance notice submits that the electricity meters installed all over Delhi are sought to be replaced

with latest digital technology meters to ensure accurate reading and are being shifted outside the premises for the purposes of safety and timely

reading of the meters.

Petitioner has not been able to show as to how the petitioner would be affected by mere shifting of the meters from within the premises of the

petitioner to outside. Rather, petitioner would be benefited from the same, as the responsibility of safety of the meter would shift from petitioner to the

respondents.

Learned counsel for respondent assures that by mere shifting of the meter, the supply of the electricity to the premises would not be affected in any

manner.

In view of the above assurance, I do not find any ground warranting interference in the action sought to be taken by the respondents of shifting the

electricity meters from within to outside the premises. There is no merit in the petition.

The petition is accordingly dismissed.
