Heard Ms. O.A.I. Bang, learned counsel for the petitioners.
Issue notice.
Mr. K.P. Bhattacharjee, learned GA is present and accepts notice on behalf of the respondents Nos. 1 & 2, and Dr. N. Mozika, learned DSGI assisted by Ms. L.M.D. Marak, learned counsel is present on behalf of the respondents Nos. 4 & 5, so no further notice is called for in respect of these respondents.
Notice to be issued to the remaining respondent No. 3, who has been made party by name and to the proforma respondent No. 6 (Child Welfare Committee), by registered AD within 3(three) days.
By this writ petition the mother of the child, who lost his life tragically by electrocution has brought to the notice of the Court, the circumstances which led to this tragedy.
Ms. O.A.I. Bang, learned counsel for the petitioner in her submissions has taken this Court to the photographs annexed to the writ petition, which shows the pitiable conditions of the toilets, bathing spaces, apart from the wiring, which seems to be in the state of disrepair.
This Court takes serious note of this matter and directs the respondents Nos. 4 & 5, who are in charge of the School to take immediate corrective steps to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the students, and also to undertake repairs immediately, as it is reported that the School will be reopen on 07.11.2024.
Further, it is directed that the respondents Nos. 4 & 5, shall appear personally before this Court on 04.11.2024 at 10:30 A.M, to apprise the Court as to the conditions and manner in which the affairs are being conducted in the School.
List this matter on 04.11.2024.
