Judgment
Ajai Lamba, J.—This civil writ petition has beenfiled under Article 226/227 of the Constitutionof India, praying for issuance of a writ in thenature of mandamus directing Respondent - PunjabPublic Service Commission, Patiala, to issueAdmit Card to the Petitioner and roll number toenable him to take preliminary examination forentry to Punjab Civil Services (ExecutiveBranch), to be held on 19.12.2010.
In brief, learned Counsel for thePetitioner contends that the Petitioner is a Government employee in Haryana. Being eligible tocompete for Punjab Civil Services (ExecutiveBranch), the Petitioner filed an application. Asper the provisions for considering candidature,relaxation in age has been given to allGovernment employees including employees of Stateof Haryana. If relaxation in age is given, the petitioner would be eligible to take the examination and compete for the post.
Learned counsel contends that candidature of the Petitioner has been rejectedand the Petitioner has been considered asineligible saying that Column No. 9 in the OMR Sheet has not been filled in. While drawingattention of the Court towards Annexure P-3,learned Counsel states that the Petitioner doesnot fall in any of the categories indicated in Column No. 9.
4.Learned Counsel for the Respondent-State contends that indeed the Petitioner hasclaimed relaxation in age in Column No. 8 of OMR Sheet. In Column No. 9, for age relaxation, only''Government Servants Punjab'' has been indicated. It is only by way of corrigendum that all theGovernment servants were made entitled to agerelaxation. Surely, the Petitioner falls in thatcategory.
Learned Counsel for the Respondent-State, after taking instructions from PunjabPublic Service Commission, states that claim ofthe Petitioner has been accepted and roll numberwould be issued to the Petitioner.
This petition is accordinglydisposed of. In view of paucity of time, thePetitioner is required to approach the PunjabPublic Service Commission at Patiala and collectthe roll number, tomorrow.
