Heard learned counsel for the parties through video conferencing.

Petitioner’s father was a civilian employee of Military Engineering Services, who died in harness in the year 1998. Petitioner has made an

application seeking compassionate appointment, which has not been decided so far. Thus, feeling aggrieved, petitioner has approached this Court,

seeking the following reliefs:-

(a) Pass an order, directing the respondent nos.2, 3 and 4 to extend compassionate appointment to the petitioner

(b) Pass an order, writ or direction in the nature of certiorari directing the respondents to provide all past dues, consequential and terminal benefits to

the petitioners since June 1998 and

(c) Pass an order, writ or direction in the writ of certiorari, awarding interest @ 24% since June, 1998.

Ms. Monika Pant, learned Standing Counsel appearing for Union of India assures the Court that if no decision has been taken on petitioner’s

application for compassionate appointment, then decision shall be taken positively within four weeks.

In such view of the matter, writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the Competent Authority to consider petitioner’s request for

compassionate appointment and take appropriate decision in accordance with law within four weeks from the date of presentation of copy of

representation alongwith certified copy of this order.
