C.W. No. 1606/98

1.Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that as per clause 15(2) of the Certified Standing Orders a working journalist is entitled to be represented in disciplinary proceedings by an official of a trade union of working journalists of which he is a member. He further submits that Mr. B.K. Paul, though a practicing lawyer, is an official of the trade union of working journalists of which the petitioner is a member. He further submits that in the Certified Standing Orders there is no specific bar against the working journalists being represented by a practicing lawyer.

Issue notice to the respondents to show cause as to why the writ petition be not admitted, returnable on 30th April, 1998.

The petitioner may place on record a copy of the Certified Standing Orders before the next date.
