This Original Petition is preferred by the petitioner seeking extension of time for Arbitral Award, as envisaged in Section 29A(4) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996.
Learned counsel appearing for the parties would submit that the period stipulated for the Arbitral Award expires on 31.08.2024. It is also borne out from records that the period originally stipulated was extended once for six months by virtue of the orders issued by this Court. It is also noticed that the Arbitrtaion commenced on 12.02.2022. Enough time has already been afforded to the parties, as also, to the Arbitrator to finalise the proceedings, culminating in the Award.
However, taking stock of the submission made by the learned counsel, this Court is inclined to extend the period by two more months, as a last chance. It is also clarified that no further extension will be granted, taking into account the fact that the Arbitration commenced on 12.02.2022.
This Original Petition is disposed of as above.
