Judgment
This Writ Petition has been filed seeking the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 06.07.2026 and, consequently, to return the petitioner's Taurus lorry bearing Registration No.TN-29-AY-1831, which is presently in the custody of the second respondent, by passing appropriate orders in accordance with law.
By consent of the learned counsel appearing on either side, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.
The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner's Taurus lorry bearing Registration No. TN-29-AY-1831 is under the custody of the second respondent. Seeking return of the said vehicle, the petitioner submitted a representation dated 06.07.2026 to the respondents. However, despite the lapse of considerable time, the said representation has not been considered. Hence, the petitioner has approached this Court by filing the present Writ Petition.
The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner further submitted that the petitioner would be satisfied if this Court issues a direction to the competent authority to consider the petitioner's representation dated 06.07.2026 and pass appropriate orders thereon within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.
Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioner's claim, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the competent authority to consider the petitioner's representation dated 06.07.2026, after affording an adequate opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and any other interested or affected parties, if any, and thereafter pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law. Such exercise shall be completed as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. There shall be no order as to costs.
