Judgment

The limited prayer made in the instant writ application is for the conduct of fresh election of the Morasuti Village Employment Council Part-I & II. The case of the petitioner is that the last Village Employment Council which was approved on 22.05.2018, with the stipulated term of a period of 3(three) years has expired in the month of May, 2021.
Mr. S.A. Sheikh, learned counsel for the petitioner therefore prays that the respondents be directed to conduct fresh elections at the earliest as the job card holders of the village are suffering.
Ms. S. Bhattacharjee, learned GA for the State respondents concurs to the submission made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, stating that it is a fact that the term of the Village Employment Council is for a period of 3(three) years.
Accordingly, in view of the submissions made by learned counsel for the parties, this writ petition is disposed of at the motion stage itself, by directing the respondents to conduct the election of the Morasuti Village Employment Council Part-I & II, as expeditiously as possible preferably within a period of 6(six) weeks from the date of receipt of this order.
The instant writ petition is accordingly disposed of.
