Heard Mr. K. Modhusudon, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner; Mr. A. Mohendro, learned counsel ; Mr. L. Sanjoy, learned counsel ; Mr. S. Sachindra, learned counsel appearing for the respondents.

It has been submitted by the learned counsel appearing for the parties that the filing of nomination for the upcoming Member of Parliament (MP) falls on 27th of this month i.e. on 27-03-2024. It has also been submitted that because of the pendency of this batch of writ petitions and the interim orders therein, the nomination cannot be filed in absence of the President of the Manipur People’s Party (MPP) and its office bearers. In this regard, Mr. K. Modhusudon, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that under Article 27 of the Constitution of the Manipur People’s Party, it is provided that the Central Committee shall have the power to elect a new President till special Delegate Session meet within a year. The learned counsel further submitted that in terms of the said provisions, the notice has been issued fixing an emergency meeting today for electing a new President. In this regard, Mr. A. Mohendro, learned counsel and Mr. L. Sanjoy, learned counsel appearing for the respondents submitted that at least two days time be given so as to give a fair chance to the intending candidates to contest in the election of the new President.

In view of the submission made above, it is hereby ordered that the proposed meeting of the Central Committee of the Manipur People’s Party (MPP) scheduled to be held of 22-03-2024 should be held on 24-03-2024.

As prayed for by the learned counsel appearing for the parties, list these cases again on 04-04-2024 for final disposal.

Earlier interim order shall continue till the next date.
