This writ petition has been filed seeking to quash the provisional selection list for the post of Health Inspector Grade-II dated 13.01.2026 as the petitioner's name has not been included in the selection list.

The petitioner is an Ex-service Man, who served in the Army Medical Corps for 30 years and was honourably discharged in the year 2023. He has applied for the post of Health Inspector Grade-II pursuant to the Notification No.16/MRB/2025 dated 27.10.2025 under the category of Ex-service Man. He claims that he has secured the cut-off marks and also participated in the certificate verification process on 06.01.2026. However, his name has not been included in the provisional selection list published on 13.01.2026, wherein, it has been stated that no eligible Ex-service Men were available and those posts have been allotted to the general candidates of the respective communal category.

Mr.C.Venkatesh Kumar, learned Special Government Pleader takes notice for the first respondent.

Mrs.Yasmin Begum, learned Standing Counsel takes notice for the second respondent and submits that the petitioner is not eligible under Ex-service Man quota and the selection process is in final stage. However, she seeks time to file counter.

Admittedly, the petitioner applied for the post of Health Inspector Grade-II under the category of Ex-service Man. As per the Notification dated 27.10.2025, the cut-off marks for the Tamil test is 40% of the total marks and the cut-off marks for the subject test is 35% of the total marks. The petitioner has secured marks above the cut-off and he has been called for certificate verification. However, his name has not been included in the provisional selection list that there are no eligible Ex-service Men candidates available.

Since the petitioner has made out a prima facie case in this writ petition, there shall be an interim order that any appointment made shall be subject to the result of this writ petition.

Post the matter on 28.01.2026 immediately after admission.
