Judgment
M.M. Kumar, ACJ.—The instant petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution prays for issuance of a direction to shift the exhibits of freedom struggle from National Gallery of Portraits'' building in Sector 17, Chandigarh to the sprawling premises of State Museum, Sector 10, Chandigarh. The basic reason for the aforesaid prayer is that the ceiling of National Gallery of Portraits'' building in Sector 17, Chandigarh has started leaking and there is apprehension that the portraits displayed in the ceiling would be damaged. In that regard petitioner who is a public spirited person has filed a representation dated 14.06.2011 (P-4) to the respondent raising a large number of issues. Mr. Waraich would be happy and satisfied if time bound direction is issued to the Union Territory Chandigarh Administration for passing a detailed speaking order on the aforesaid representation.
Notice of motion was issued and Mr. Sanjay Kaushal, learned counsel for the U.T. Administration has stated that the Administration is not opposed to the idea of considering the suggestions made by Mr. Waraich.
In view of the aforesaid, we direct the Home Secretary, U.T. Administration to pass a detailed speaking order on the representation dated 14.06.2011 (P-4) made by the petitioner. The needful shall be done expeditiously but preferably within a period of two months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
The writ petition stands disposed of.
A copy of this order be given to both the parties under the signatures of the Bench Secretary.
