Present petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution, inter alia for issuance of a writ in the nature of Mandamus to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners.

Notice of motion to respondent Nos.1 to 3 only.

Mr. Siddharth Attri, AAG, Punjab, who is present in Court, accepts notice on behalf of aforesaid respondents.

Learned State Counsel after obtaining instructions from the concerned Police Officer, has produced three separate affidavits dated 04.04.2023 sworn in by respondent Nos.4 to 6 and which are taken on record as Mark X, Y & Z, respectively. Registry to do the needful.

A perusal of the aforesaid affidavits clearly reveals that private respondents (4 – 6) have no objection regarding the marriage solemnized by the petitioners and as such, they may lead lives, as per their wishes.

Also noteworthy that all three affidavits are almost identically worded, hence for reference it would be sufficient to recapitulate the relevant paras of affidavit of respondent No.4-Manjeet Singh and which read as under:-

“5. That I have no objection whatsoever regarding this marriage.

That my daughter Gurjot Kaur and son-in-law Lucky should live their lives according to their wishes and I will not interfere in their lives.”

In view of above factual position, learned counsel on instructions from petitioners does not press the petition any further; rather submits that same be disposed off as such.

Ordered accordingly.

Needless to say that private respondents shall be bound by their undertaking noticed hereinabove.
