The matter has been taken up through video conferencing in the light of COVID-19 pandemic.
The present fourth petition has been filed by the petitioner, namely, Lakhwinder Singh, thereby making prayer for grant of interim bail for three weeks in case bearing FIR No.87 dated 21.07.2020, under Section 21(c) of NDPS Act, 1985 (Section 207 of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 added later on), Police Station STF Phase 4 SAS Nagar Mohali.

Mr.Sandeep Vermani, Addl. Advocate General, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent-State.
On the last date of hearing, State was directed to verify about the fact of death of son of the petitioner and taking place of Bhog ceremony on 21.03.2021.
Today, learned State counsel, on instructions from SI Kuljit Kaur, STF, Patiala Range, Patiala, has informed that son of the petitioner had died on 01.03.2021 and Bhog ceremony for peace of departed soul has to take place on 21.03.2021.
Without adverting to the merits of the case, while taking into consideration the fact of death of only son of the petitioner, on humanitarian grounds, to facilitate the petitioner to attend the Bhog ceremony of his only son, he is hereby granted interim bail w.e.f 20.03.2021 to 24.03.2021, subject to his furnishing bail/surety bonds to the satisfaction of learned trial Court/ CJM/Duty Magistrate concerned and the petitioner shall surrender before the jail authorities on 25.03.2021.
