Judgment
The present appeal is directed against an order dated 4th August 2021 of the learned Single Judge in W.P.(C) No.20235 of 2021 declining to interfere with the advertisement issued for recruitment for the post of Assistant Professor Political Science in the Utkal University.
An advertisement so issued required the candidate to upload a world university ranking certificate of the University/course from which she obtained a qualifying degree. Admittedly, the present Appellant was unable to do so.
The only argument advanced before this Court by Mr. Panda, learned counsel for the Appellant that the said ranking was not relevant.
It is not for the Appellant to decide the relevancy of the criteria prescribed by the recruiting authority. It cannot be said that ranking given internationally to a course offered by a University is totally irrelevant to decide the suitability of the candidate for appointment to an academic post.
These are not the matters in which the Court can substitute its view for that of the University making the appointments of academic personnel. It is the concerned University to decide what criteria is appropriate for its needs.
The Court finds that no error has been committed by learned Singh Judge. Accordingly, the writ appeal is dismissed.
An urgent certified copy of this order be issued as per rules.
