Judgment

The writ petition has been filed by the petitioner, who was working as a peon in Nigamananda Mahila Mohavidyalaya, Charichhak in the district of Puri with the following prayer:
“Under the above circumstances, it is humbly prayed that the writ application be allowed;
(a) A writ of mandamus or an appropriate writ be issued commanding the O.Ps. more particularly to the O.P.Nos.3 and 4 to finalize the disciplinary proceeding pending against the petitioner relating to his date of birth by taking into account his explanation under Annexure-9 within a time to be stipulated by this Hon’ble Court.
(b) Any other order/orders or direction/directions be issued so as to give complete relief to the petitioner.”
Notices were issued by this Court indicating that the matter is likely to be disposed of at the stage of admission by order dated 26.06.2008. Thereafter, when the matter was taken up on 14.07.2008, none had appeared for the petitioner. Thereafter, the matter is listed today, no one has put in appearance for the petitioner.
Heard Mr. S.K. Samal, learned Additional Government Advocate for the State.
The petitioner, inter alia, has prayed for completion of the pending disciplinary proceeding against him relating to his date of birth in his service records.
The relevant rules and circulars of the State prescribe for completion of departmental proceedings within a specific time.
Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of observing that the disciplinary proceeding shall be completed within a period of six months from the date of communication of this order, if the same is still pending. Ordered accordingly.
