Petitioners, who are both major, have approached this Court seeking protection as they apprehend threat to their life and person from respondents No.4 to 8, parents and other relatives of petitioner No.1, who opposed their inter-caste marriage. In this regard, learned counsel for the petitioners has relied upon the judgment of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in Lata Singh Versus State of U.P. and another, (2006) 5 SCC 475.
Learned Additional Advocate General submits that on receiving the advance copy of the petition, he has already instructed the Superintendent of Police, Kangra and Station House Officer, Police Station Khundian, District Kangra, to provide police protection to the petitioners.
In this view of the matter, we dispose of the present writ petition with a direction to the Superintendent of Police, Kangra and Station House Officer, Police Station Khundian, District Kangra to ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioners and provide them security till the threat persists.
The writ petition stands disposed of in the above terms, so also the pending miscellaneous application(s), if any.
