Sanjib Banerjee, CJ

The prayer in the writ petition is that an inquiry to be conducted pertaining to the declaration of the result for the post of Lower Division Assistant by a notice dated February 5, 2021 issued by the District Selection Committee.

The petitioner claims no personal interest in the post. The petitioner claims to be a public-spirited citizen based in the State. According to the petitioner, the reservation policy applicable for the relevant post may have not been appropriately implemented.

This is a cause for which no public interest litigation can be brought. It is only a person who may have been deprived appointment to the post because of some perceived irregularity that the matter may be looked into. Since the petitioner claims that he had no interest in the post, the petition is dismissed. At this stage, the petitioner seeks leave to withdraw the petition. Accordingly, PIL No.13 of 2021 is permitted to be withdrawn without going into the merits thereof.

There will be no order as to costs.
