The petitioner undertakes to affirm and stamp the petition as per the Rules within 48 hours of resumption of normal functioning of the Court. The petition is taken up through video conference on the basis of such undertaking.

The petitioner claims not to be involved in the matter and refers to the owner of the truck having obtained anticipatory bail and the driver of the truck having obtained bail.

The incident was the recovery of a truck with stolen coal.

The State says that it is imperative that the petitioner be subjected to custodial interrogation, if only to unearth the extent of the racket.

It is common knowledge that the illegal trading in illegally mined coal is rampant in the coal belt. It is necessary to have the petitioner interrogated if the investigating agency is genuine in its attempt to unearth the racket.

In such light, the petitioner's prayer for anticipatory bail is rejected particularly since the petitioner has waited till the chargesheet has been filed and it is apparent that the petitioner had been absconding for a considerable period of time.

CRM 3584 of 2020 and CRAN 1875 of 2020 are disposed of.
