At this stage, Mr. Rajesh Mehta, Addl. A.G., Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of State.

The petitioners, claiming themselves to be major (petitioner No. 1 having been born on 25.4.1996 and petitioner No. 2 having been born on 26.11.1995) and averring that they got married as per certificate given by a Head Priest of Sri Vishwakarma Bhawan, Sri Muktsar Sahib seek protection of their life and liberty from respondents No. 4 to 10.

Learned Counsel for the petitioners contends that the petitioners would be satisfied if the Sr. Superintendent of Police, Tarn Taran-respondent No. 2 is directed to look into the representation dated 22.5.2014 (Annexure P-5) already moved by the petitioners in this behalf.

In this view of the matter and without going into merits of the claim raised by the petitioners, this petition is disposed of with direction to respondent No. 2 - Sr. Superintendent of Police, Tarn Taran to take appropriate action in accordance with law on representation (Annexure P-5) already stated to have been moved to him by the petitioners immediately. Reference may be made to Fiaz Ahmed Ahanger and Others Vs. State of Jammu & Kashmir , Vivek Kumar @ Sanju and another Versus The State and another, Crl. M.C. No. 3073-74/2006 decided on 23.2.2007 by Hon''ble Delhi High Court and Balwinder Kaur and another Versus State of Punjab and ors., CRM-M-20415 of 2014 decided by this Court on 11.6.2014.

However, it is made clear that since petitioner No. 2 is less than 19 years, this order will be having no effect on the validity or otherwise of alleged marriage of petitioners or on any other civil or criminal proceedings instituted against petitioner No. 2 as per law.
