-IT is a matter of regret that in spite of repeated notices issued by this Commission to the Administrator, Union Territory of Lakshadweep, he did not take any steps to enter appearance in the case and defend the proceedings on behalf of the respondents. IT is only after we finally passed a peremptory order dated the 27th March, 1994, and communicated it to the Liaison Officer, Lakshadweep Bhavan, Curzon Road Apartment, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi, directing him to appear that a Counsel has been engaged in this case last evening by the said Liaison Officer, without even furnishing with any of the records of the case. Counsel naturally had to express his helplessness before us today in the matter of being of any purposeful assistance to this Commission in deciding the case. We are not inclined to grant any adjournment of the case to the respondents Counsel except on terms as to payment of costs. The Revision Petitioner is a Medical Doctor who had served in Lakshadweep for a period of two years and he has been appearing before us in person on every previous day of posting of the case. By reasons of the repeated adjournments he has naturally, been put to a great amount of inconvenience and hardship. Hence, while granting an adjournment of the case in order to enable the respondents Counsel to obtain the records and prepare the case so as to be in a position to assist this Commission by putting forward all his submissions on the side of the Respondents, we direct that the respondents herein shall pay a sum of Rs. 2,500/- by way of day costs to the Revision Petitioner within a period of two weeks from today. Subject to compliance with the condition stipulated above, this case will stand adjourned to 9th May, 1994. Ordered accordingly.
