The hearing of the case was held through video conferencing on account of restricted functioning of the Courts.   Â
The petitioner claims to be a retired police official. He is stated to have met with a serious accident on 04.07.2019. He claims that he was taken to the
hospital and remained admitted as indoor patient upto 12.07.2019. He claims that he has paid a bill of Rs.2,88,000/- to the hospital. The petitioner has
pleaded that the respondents have already sanctioned an amount of Rs.95,000/- approximately against the reimbursement of medical bill, however, the
payment thereof has not been released. The petitioner also claims that he is entitled to the remaining amount. However, the petitioner has failed to
substantiate the aforesaid facts on the basis of rules, regulations or any policy decision.
Learned counsel for the petitioner, at this stage, submits that the writ petition be disposed of by directing the respondents to release the amount which
has already been sanctioned within the time frame and he may be permitted to withdraw the writ petition with regard to the remaining claim with
permission to file fresh one after furnishing better particulars.
Mr. Nikhil Chopra, Addl.A.G.,Punjab, has no objection thereto. Keeping in view the aforesaid facts, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to
the respondents to release the amount of reimbursement of medical bills which has already been sanctioned on 07.07.2020.
The petitioner is also permitted to withdraw the writ petition with liberty to file fresh one after referring to the relevant rules, regulations, instructions or
policy guidelines.
With these observations, the writ petition is disposed of.
