Judgment
JASGURPREET SINGH PURI, J. (Oral)
With the consent of the parties, all the four writ petitions are being taken up for final disposal.
The present writ petitions have been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India praying for quashing of acquisition of land of the petitioners pursuant to notifications 19.09.2025, 29.08.2025 (Annexure P-1) and notifications dated 05.05.2026, 24.02.2026, 09.06.2026 (Annexure P-4) and the notices dated 10.06.2026 (Annexure P-9) issued under Sections 11, 19 and 21 (respectively) of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.
The matter has been heard.
Learned Addl. A.G. Punjab, on instructions from Mr. Sher Singh, Chief Engineer (Canals), Water Resources Department, Punjab, who is present in the Court, submitted that the Environmental Impact Assessment has yet not been finalized. He further submitted that till the aforesaid assessment is finalized in accordance with law, the State will not dispossess the petitioners or any other similar persons nor pass award and no further exercise will be taken in the acquisition proceedings pertaining to the pronouncement of award.
Learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that in view of the statement made by learned Addl. A.G., Punjab, the present petitions may be disposed of accordingly.
In view of the above, the present writ petitions are disposed of accordingly.
Pending miscellaneous application(s), if any, shall stand disposed of.
A photocopy of this order be placed on the files of connected cases.
