Abhay S. Oka, CJ

1.

Heard the petitioner appearing in person. The prayer clauses (A) and (B) in the petition read thus:

“(A) Issue a Writ of Mandamus or any other appropriate writ, order or direction to Respondent Nos.1, 2, 5 & 6 to issue appropriate

orders under the relevant provisions of the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995 and its Rules against the erring print, news

and digital media;

(B) Issue a Writ of Mandamus or any other appropriate writ, order or direction to Respondent Nos.3 & 4 to issue appropriate orders under

the relevant provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 against the erring print, news and digital media;â€

2.

The petitioner appearing in person has invited our attention to Section 54 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 (for short ‘the said Act of

2005’). His submission is that the print, news and digital media are committing offences which are punishable under Section 54 of the said Act of

2005.

3.

Firstly, the petitioner has not impleaded the print, news and digital media houses which according to him are indulging in illegality. Secondly, before

approaching the Writ Court, he has not moved the concerned Authorities under the said Act of 2005 or under the Cable Television Networks

(Regulation) Act, 1995 and the Rules framed thereunder.

4.

If the petitioner approaches the concerned Authorities making specific grievances against specific media houses by producing material in support of

his case about the illegality committed by them, we are sure that all the concerned Authorities will initiate immediate action in accordance with law.

5.

Subject to what we have directed above, at this stage, it is not necessary to entertain this petition and the same is accordingly disposed of.
