The petitioner seeks issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus so as to direct respondent No.2 to decide his statutory appeal dated 17.5.2023 (Annexure P-3) against order dated 18.12.2020 (Annexure P-1) passed by respondent No.4 – Senior Superintendent of Police, Bathinda, District Bathinda, whereby a penalty of punishment of forfeiture of one year service has been imposed affecting his increments as well.

Learned counsel representing the petitioner submitted that although the petitioner had preferred an appeal before Inspector General of Police, Bathinda Range, Bathinda, District Bathinda, but the same was dismissed. Subsequently, the petitioner preferred an appeal before respondent No.2 - Director General of Police, Punjab i.e. appeal dated 17.5.2023 (Annexeure P-3), but the same is stated to be pending.

Having heard learned counsel for the petitioner but without commenting anything as regards merits of the case or as regards maintainability of the appeal, the instant petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 – Director General of Police, Punjab to consider and dispose of the appeal dated 17.5.2023 (Annexeure P-3) expeditiously preferably within a period of 4 months from today, in case the same is found to be maintainable.
