It is of some concern that pursuant to the previous order of August 11, 2022, the State submits that two buildings have come up by the Umiam Lake which, according to the State, have been constructed without obtaining necessary permission or clearance.

The State has filed an affidavit indicating that closure notices have been issued.

Since the land in question at both sites may have been owned or under the control of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council, KHADC is added as a respondent to the present proceedings. Advocate for the State will indicate the owners of the two offending buildings for such owners also to be added as respondents to the present proceedings and given notice.

If the two buildings have been constructed otherwise than in accordance with law, demolition should follow in the usual course.

The amendments in terms of this order should be carried out by the Department upon obtaining the particulars from Advocate representing the State.

Let the added respondents be served immediately. The matter will appear a week hence.
