1.

This petition has been filed by the petitioner seeking a direction to the respondents 1 & 2 to provide the petitioner''s family members with

adequate police protection.

2.

Heard learned counsel for the petitioner as well as the learned Government Advocate (Crl. side) for the respondents.

3.

The apprehension of the petitioner is that since her son had married one Shalini out of love affair, the relatives and friends of the said shalini had

ransacked the petitioner''s house and caused heavy damages. In this connection, the petitioner had also given a complaint against the relatives and

family members of the said shalini, which came to be registered in Crime No.312 of 2017.

4.

The present apprehension of the petitioner is that in view of ensuing festivals, she intends to go to her native place and that, some harm to be

caused to the life and liberty from the family members and relatives of the said shalini.

5.

Learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side), on instructions, submitted that there is no imminent threat to the life and liberty of the petitioner.

However, if any direction is issued by this Court, the same may be complied with.

6.

In view of the earlier incident, wherein the family members/relatives of the said shalini, burnt the petitioner''s house and caused damages, I am of

the view that there is a possibility of threat to the life and liberty of the petitioner and her family members.

7.

However, considering the submissions made by the learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) that there is no imminent threat, it would be

appropriate to grant liberty to the petitioner to approach the respondent police as and when required, seeking for protection.

8.

In view of the above prevailing circumstances, there shall be a direction to the respondent police for surveillance of the area surrounding the

petitioner''s house for the period of 15 days from today. The petitioner is also granted liberty to approach the respondent police seeking for police

protection, whenever there is a threat to the petitioner and her family members and on receipt of such representation, the respondent police shall

endeavour to dispose of it on the same day and extend necessary protection. Such liberty can be exercised for a period of six months from today.

9.

With the above directions, the Criminal Original Petition is allowed.
