The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking directions to respondents to award University Medal/Prize at the University Annual Convocation along with certificate. He is further seeking directions to respondents to award Shri Kartar Singh Chadda Gold Medal for standing first in the LL.B. Examination.
In 1997, the petitioner passed LL.B. Examination by securing 637 marks out of 900 marks. On 12.09.1997, he was awarded Provisional Certificate for passing LL.B. (Professional) Examination for the year 1996- 97. Respondent-University got published his photograph in different newspapers for standing first in LL.B. final examination 1996-97. The petitioner made a representation to respondent-University for award of medal/prize for standing first in LL.B. Examination but to no avail.
On being asked, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that it is factually correct that with the efflux of time, the prayer made in the petition has rendered more academic than substantive.
In the backdrop, this Court does not find it appropriate to further dilate on the issue. In the wake of statement of learned counsel for the petitioner, the petition stands disposed of.
