Judgment

Even though various allegations and averments made and urged in this Writ Petition, when this matter was called today, Dr.Abraham P. Meachinkara – learned Standing Counsel for the 2nd respondent – National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), submitted that, pending this lis, his client has taken a decision to allow two basic units (50 students each) to the petitioner College for B.Ed.; and one basic Unit (50 students) for M.Ed., though some clarifications with respect to the latter course has been sought for. He submitted that the orders of the NCTE, with respect to B.Ed. course of the petitioner, will be communicated to the University within a period of one week from today.
Smt.V.Bhargavi – learned counsel for the petitioner, submitted that, as far as this Writ Petition is concerned, her client only seeks orders with respect to B.Ed. Course; and that since the NCTE now says as afore, they do not require any further orders.
In the afore circumstances, I order this Writ Petition and direct the NCTE to communicate their order granting two basic units to the petitioner College for the B.Ed. course, within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment.
Consequentially, the University will permit the petitioner to allot students in the second allotment, beginning from tomorrow (31/08/2022), even without awaiting the orders from the NCTE, taking into account the urgency involved.
Needless to say that as regards the M.Ed. course, the petitioner will be at liberty to seek necessary approval from the University for admission, subject to the orders of the NCTE; for which purpose, all contentions are left open.
