Judgment
Kanwaljit Singh Ahluwalia, J.—This is a case where the academicians, instead of devoting their time in the class-rooms and rearing good students, are in litigation over a very frivolous issue.
Grievance of the petitioner is that he had obtained a degree of Ph.D. from Gurukul Kangri Vishwavidalaya, Haridwar, which was equivalent to the degree of Ph.D. in Hindi. Respondent No. 1-Principal of the DAV College, where the petitioner was Head of the Department of Hindi, entertained some doubt regarding the degree of Ph.D. obtained by the petitioner being equivalent to the degree of Ph.D. in Hindi. However, respondent No. 1 has retired. Both, the petitioner and respondent No. 1, intend to bury their old hatchet in a graceful manner.
Counsel for the petitioner states that in case his Principal-respondent No. 1 admits that as on today he has no doubt that the Ph.D. degree obtained by the petitioner is equivalent to the degree of Ph.D. in Hindi, he, in the spirit of forget and forgive, will forgo this litigation.
After going through the contents of the pleadings made in the present petition, counsel for respondent No. 1 states that the Ph.D. degree obtained by the petitioner is equivalent to the degree of Ph.D. in Hindi. Counsel for the petitioner accepts the statement made by counsel for respondent No. 1.
In view of this, nothing survives in the present petition and the same stands disposed of.
