Judgment

1) The petitioner had challenged the fact that he was not invited for selection to the post of Professor, ostensibly, on the ground that he had not given
any details of two articles published by him on the post of Assistant Professor.
2) By the order dated 14.10.2020, the learned Division Bench of this Court had directed that the petitioner be permitted to appear in the interview on a
provisional basis. However, his result was not to be declared until further orders of this Court.
3) Subsequently, today, the recommendation of the Selection Committee has been produced before this Court in a sealed cover envelop by Mr. Ramji
Srivastava, the learned counsel for respondent No. 2.
4) A bare perusal of the result clearly reveals that there are only two vacancies, one for the General category, and the other for the Economically
Weaker Section. Moreover, according to the recommendation of the Selection Committee, there are other four candidates, who are found to be more
meritorious than the petitioner.
5) Considering the fact that there is only one vacancy available for the post of Professor under the General category, obviously, the petitioner could
not be appointed to the said post. Therefore, this Court does not find any merit in the present writ petition. It is, hereby, dismissed.
6) The copy of the recommendation of the Selection Committee shall be resealed by this Court and shall be returned to Mr. Ramji Srivastava, the
learned counsel for respondent No. 2.
