It is submitted on behalf of the parties that the matter pending before the Supreme Court has not yet been taken up. The corollary to such submission is that since this petition has waited for the Supreme Court decision, it should not be taken up immediately.
However, a somewhat different note is struck on behalf of the University Grants Commission which says that the mere pendency of special leave petitions without the special leave petitioners taking any steps to prosecute the matters should not be an impediment to the present matter being considered by this Court.
Since it appears that for several months this petition has waited the outcome of the matters pending before the Supreme Court, let this petition be adjourned for eight weeks for the moment.
It is always open, both to the petitioners and to the respondents to any proceedings before any court, to request the court to take up the matter expeditiously. Accordingly, the respondents herein can also take appropriate steps.
