The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking setting aside of order dated 16.02.2026 and relieving letter dated 17.02.2026 whereby he has been transferred from Amritsar Rural to Jalandhar Rural.
The petitioner joined Punjab Police force as Constable on 14.07.1988. While he was posted as ASI at Police Station Kathunangal an FIR No. 90 dated 07.07.2025 came to be registered. He was pressurised by local political leader not to arrest the accused. He vide order dated 07.01.2026 was transferred from Police Station Kathunangal to Police Line, Amritsar Rural. He was again vide impugned order dated 16.02.2026 transferred from Amritsar Rural to Jalandhar Rural despite being on the verge of superannuation.
Learned State counsel on being confronted with the fact that petitioner is going to retire on 30.04.2027 on attaining the age of superannuation submits that Competent Authority would reconsider petitioner’s transfer order and pass an appropriate order within two weeks from today.
In the wake of statement of learned State counsel, the petition stands disposed of. It is made clear that till the passing of fresh order, the petitioner would not be disturbed from the present place of posting.
Pending application(s), if any, shall also stand disposed of.
