Heard Mr. A. De, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner. Also heard Mr. N. Majumder, learned counsel appearing for the respondent-contemnor.

Mr. De, learned counsel has submitted that though the compensation to the tune of Rs.6,91,200/- has been paid to the petitioner, but, the interest has not yet been paid.

In the judgment dated 04.06.2020 passed in RFA No.13 of 2017, it was categorically stated that the said amount would accrue interest from the date of institution of the money suit.

Mr. N. Majumder, learned counsel appearing for the respondent-contemnor has submitted that since no figure has been mentioned in the judgment, the respondent-contemnor has not been able to pay interest.

I am afraid of such submission of learned counsel for the respondent-contemnor.

Interest when it has been specifically mentioned to be paid in the judgment, the respondent-contemnor is liable to pay interest at the present rate at least. As such, I direct the respondent-contemnor to pay interest at the rate of 6 per cent per annum wthin a period of 30(thirty) days from today.

Accordingly, the instant contempt petition stands disposed.
