A boy aged 19 years alongwith a girl aged 18 years had come up before this Court by filing this petition for police protection. Vide order dated
11.7.2019, this Court had directed the Superintendent of Police, Una to ensure that the petitioners do not receive any threat to their life and liberty
from the members of their families, friends and relatives.
Due to pandemic of Covid-19, this matter has been listed today. Mr. Nand Lal Thakur, learned Additional Advocate General contends on
instructions that the petitioners, i.e., boy and girl, were given adequate protection and as per information, now, there is no imminent threat to their lives
from their families, friends or relatives.
He further contends that since the writ petition has achieved its purpose, as such, it may be closed.
The prayer of the petitioners was to give immediate protection because they were in love with each other and their families were opposed to their
staying together, and as such, they had apprehended threats from their family members, relatives and villagers. Time is the greatest healer and due to
its passage, the mis-conceptions clear, grievances address and wounds nurse. Even otherwise, such protection cannot be for life long.
Given above, nothing survives in this petition. Accordingly, this petition shall stand disposed of along with pending application(s), if any.
