G.S. Sandhawalia, J.—Relief claimed in the present writ petition is for admission to the Ist year of B.E. Engineering Course for the session 1995-96 against one of the seats reserved for the sports category as per merit in CET 95 conducted by the Punjabi University, Patiala.

The present writ petition was admitted and ordered to be heard alongwith Civil Writ Petition No. 10595 of 1995-Yadwinder Singh Vs. Punjabi University, Patiala and others which stands decided on 11.12.2002. Interim order was also passed in the same terms as granted in said writ petition. It was held in the said writ petition that the petitioner could not be penalised on account of his failure to annexe copy of the sports certificate alongwith the application form and the University should have taken pragmatic view of the predicament in which the petitioner was placed and should have accepted the certificate produced by him at the time of interview. Accordingly, the admission given by an interim order was regularised.

Counsel for the petitioner submits that she has no fresh instructions with regard to latest status.

The dispute in question is the same and the interim order passed in Civil Writ Petition No. 10595 of 1995 was to be applicable to the petitioner also. Case of the petitioner was to be considered for the grant of admission to the engineering course in accordance with his merit on the hypothesis that he was a sportsman. In case the petitioner has been granted admission, he would have passed out some where in the year 2000. A period of more than 14 years have expired since then and he would have accordingly taken employment on the strength of the said degree. Accordingly, the present writ petition is also disposed of in the same terms as order passed in Civil Writ Petition No. 10595 of 1995. In case any admission had been granted to the petitioner, the same shall stand regularised on the strength of the sports certificate.
