Judgment

The petitioner, who is a member of S.N.D.P. Sakha Yogam No.301, Muthukulam village in Alappuzha, has filed this petition seeking a direction to respondent Nos.1 to 3 to extend adequate and effective police protection and to ensure that election to said Yogam is conducted in a peaceful manner. Ext.P1 is the notice announcing the election of the Yogam on 10.12.2023.
Notice issued by this court to respondent Nos.4 to 7 through special messenger was served, but there is no appearance for them.
The case of the petitioner is that, if respondent Nos.5 to 7 and their henchmen try to obstruct the voters to cast their votes and disrupt the peaceful conduct of the election, it will create law and order situation resulting in bogus voting. Therefore, he seeks police protection for the smooth conduct of the election.
The Government pleader submits that if there is a law and order situation, police protection will be given to the voters to cast their votes and to see that the election is conducted in a peaceful manner.
Taking into consideration the submission made by the learned Government Pleader, respondent Nos.1 to 3 are directed to provide adequate police protection at the site of S.N.D.P. Sakha Yogam No.301, Muthukulam village in Alappuzha, on 10.12.2023 from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm, to see that the election is conducted in a democratic way and there is no obstruction to the voters in casting their votes.
The Writ Petition is disposed of.
